FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I search for jobs using Rake?

No.  Rake is not a job board nor a job posting platform.

Instead, Rake sits on top of all the job boards and career websites acting as an aggregator of jobs you find online.

When you see a job posting that interests you, simply save the job to Rake which acts as your single source for tracking all your opportunities (in one place).

How do I save Jobs to Rake?

There are four ways in which you can add and track jobs using Rake.

1.) Via your Google Chrome web browser using the Rake Chrome Plug-in. See how to do this here.

2.) Using the Rake iOS app.  On your iPhone, when you are browsing jobs from Safari, Chrome or other job search apps such as Indeed, LinkedIn, etc., you can leverage Apple’s native Share functionality and share/save jobs directly to the Rake app.  See how to do this here.

3.) Within the Rake app, you can manually add a job using the ‘+’ sign in the upper right of the home screen.

4.) Emailing a job posting link to add@getrake.io.  See how to do this here.

Can I save jobs that aren't advertised online?

Yes.

If you come across an opportunity whether it is from a friend or recruiter, you can save that opportunity within the Rake app.

Simply click the “+” sign in the upper right, from there you can enter the details of the job opportunity.

What happened to the job description for my saved job? It's gone!

Job boards, media properties and career websites that contain job postings have expiration dates for each job because they are technically job advertisements.

Either the job was filled, closed or the company simply no longer wishes to advertise that job.

Whatever the reason, the odds are that at some point the posting information will be gone. And since Rake only saves the link of the job posting, we unfortunately can’t control when the listing will go away.

In the future, Rake will have a feature that will allow you to permanently save a copy of this job description so this doesn’t happen!

If this is a feature you are interested in, please send us a note at feedback@getrake.io

If I create an account or sign-up, will recruiters be able to find me?

No.  Rake is designed for job seekers, not recruiters.

We built a platform that provides job seekers with tools to simplify their job search and help manage the process.

Recruiters and hiring companies do not have access to Rake thus the information you save is completely private to you.

Is my information and the information I save to Rake private?

Yes!  We absolutely do not share your information with other providers, especially employers or recruiters.

You should feel safe in saving any and all information as it relates to your job search.

What Mobile Platforms do you support?

Right now we only support Apple iOS.  Our mobile app is called Rake and can be found here.

We intend to build an Android version of the mobile app, release date is To Be Determined.

However, don’t miss out, join the Android Waitlist now and we will notify you when our Android app is available.

Can I save jobs that aren't advertised online?

Yes.

If you come across an opportunity whether it is from a friend or recruiter, you can save that opportunity within the Rake app.

Simply click the “+” sign in the upper right, from there you can enter the details of the job opportunity.

I saved a Job to Rake, but it's not showing up in the app.

Rake should be able to save anything that has a valid URL.  However, if the URL is not a job posting, Rake may still attempt to parse the data on the page thus leading to a saved listing that contain incomplete data.  At which point, you can edit the job with the correct information.

If nothing is showing up at all, please send us an email to support@getrake.io from the email address you used to create your Rake account.

Please make sure to include the URL that hasn’t saved and we will look into the problem.

I moved a Job to Applied, does this mean Rake sent in my application to the employer?

No!

Rake does not provide job application services, we simply allow for you to keep track of all the jobs you applied to.

To apply to a job, follow the directions on the job posting.

Even though you aren’t applying to job directly from Rake , it is important to keep tack of all the jobs you applied to.  It is recommended that you set follow-up items and reminders – this is critical in the job search process, especially after you just applied to and/or interviewed for a job.

Can I share my jobs with a friend?

Yes, you can share a job posting to a friend.  You can do this one of two ways.

When viewing the job posting there is a share icon on the bottom bar.

InAppBrowsserBar

Or, you can swipe left on the job listing in the Rake app and tap the share icon

LeftSwipteJob

This will allow you to email a copy of the job posting to a friend.

I assigned a due date/time to an item but never received a notfication.

Currently we haven’t built in any push notifications and/or email notifications for items with due date/times.

Check your app often and go to the Scheduled section off the main menu.  From here you can quickly see list of all the items that have due dates.

Can I have more than one email account associated to my Rake account?

Currently the answer is no.  Right now you can only have one email account associated to your Rake account.

In the future, we plan on allowing multiple email accounts.

I have an idea for a new feature, where can I send it?

Our customers feedback is very important to us, so please send us any suggestions to feedback@getrake.io.

Where can I find the Rake Chrome Extension?

Go to the Google Chrome Store and Download the Rake extension here.

Where can I see my Saved Jobs?

All jobs your capture using the Rake Chrome extension get saved to the Rake platform.

Currently, the only place you can see your saved jobs is via the Rake iOS mobile app.

Get the app on the app store here.

What Job Boards do you support?

Right now our platform is optimized for the following job boards:

Indeed, Glassdoor, Monster, Zip Recrutier, Career Builder and LinkedIn.

We are able to capture jobs for mostly any job listing you can find online.

There are certain websites that make capturing the information difficult whether its intentional or not, they simple don’t design their job listing in a consumable format.  In these cases, we will always save the link to the job posting, but you may have blank information for company name, job title and location.

If you come across a job board that you would like us to optimize for, please send your request to feedback@getrake.io

Can I save jobs from within other Job Search Apps? If so, which ones?

Absolutely you can!  This is the power of Rake.  We are the first and only job app that allows you to save jobs from within other job search apps!

Job Apps that allow native “sharing” (saving) of jobs are:

Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Monster, Zip Recruiter, CareerBuilder

Look for this icon Share50 in these apps, the location of the icon varies by app.

Can I apply to Jobs directly from Rake?

No.  Rake doesn’t not directly integrate with a company’s internal system, known as an Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).

However, if the job posting you save has an apply link, you can click that and apply (from within the Rake App).

Follow the instructions on the job posting, and/or the job site where the job is being listed (sometimes this is the companies website or the ATS’ site).
